Springtime 2009

~Springtime 2009~
Spring is *finally* here!
So...
I thought i'd share a few photos -
Spring flowers, and ofcourse, my cats. lol

LilMiss... lol

Part of the hill behind my home..
The reason I don't have much garden space for a veggie garden - also the reason I have such a drainage problem! lol All the run off - hills on 3 sides of the property, it's like living at the bottom of a bowl. lol

Princess. =)
Last year, she had a VERY serious injury - I think a dog attacked her.
He couldn't walk for a long time, had to drag her hindquarters..
She could pee/poo without help (had to apply pressure and stimulate),
and constant cleaning. I wasn't sure she would ever be "normal" again,
but was ready to care for a "Special needs" kitty, anyway.
Over time, she started to limp around a bit, and the leaking urine stopped.
Now, she is walking, RUNNING, and jumping!
She's "normal" again, and it's a huge relief to see her able to be a normal cat again.

Kiana, Tiana, Sylvester and Lillie in the "rock garden"..
I can't do any gardening without the cats involved. lol
(the rock garden isn't finished yet lol)

Sylvester and Tiana

(6 toed) Lillie

"Soon-to-be" Shrub garden...
It will have Golden Barberry, Dwarf Burning Bush, and Knockout Roses.
And ofcourse, Tiana thinks it's her huge new litter box! lol *sigh*

Pansies in the rock garden

Grape Hyacinth - at an upward angle.. lol

I *love* Grape Hyacinth!

Cutiepie rolling around in the "shrub garden"..
Yeah, Cutiepie is a silly name...
But, it's fitting. =)

The "Shrub garden" from another angle

Grape Hyacinth

Hyacinth (not the grape variety lol) - soooooo fragrant!
More Hyacinth. See where the land slid a few years back??
I need to do something with it, maybe a groundcover plant?
Wildflowers?

Pansies

They came back from last year - a pleasant surprise. =)

My yellow climbing Rose (unknown type?)
This one started leafing out EARLY, even before my red climber,
which is usually the first to leaf out, and first to bloom.
It was in horrible condition when I bought it,
but did well the first year.
The 2nd year, it died back to the ground - I thought it was gone!
Now, it's one of my strongest Roses.. =)

Yay, my Columbine is coming back!
Got this one (close to totally dead) on clearance last Summer.
So.... It's good to see it coming back already.

Eastern White Pines..
They were only a few feet tall when I moved here, about 5 years ago.
They are HUGE now!
They had a growth spurt last year, after I limbed them up a bit.

Tiana... lol In the rock garden.
See the Queen Anne's Lace starting?
It popped up in the garden out of nowhere last year.
I transplanted it the other day, near the new shrub garden.
It gets too big for the rock garden..
The rock garden looks so bare right now.
I added some flower bulbs this spring,
won't see them till next year probably though..
I'm adding more creepin phlox, golden moneywort, strawberry plants..
It'll look good, eventually. =)

Angelle......in the rock garden... =)

I soooooo love springtime!
I hate the tedious task of weeding a garden, though.....
And, I have sooo much weeding to do, it sucks =/
I've made a little progress, anyway.
I've got to get my little veggie garden ready and started soon, though..
Atleast the cool weather veggies, anyway.
Unfortunately, my roses didn't all make it over this past Winter =/
I don't think so, anyway.
I *could* be surprised, some of them may just be late to start..
..but, I think they are gone.
Last summer, I went crazy planting Roses... lol
I'm not sure that i'll be so Rose-happy this year.
It seems that I have lost 6 JFK roses, my Mr Lincoln, Gene Boerner, Angel Face,
Peace rose, Hot Cocoa, and all 3 climbing Queen Elizabeth Roses. *sigh*
The only ones that I *know* made it are my red climber (Blaze?), yellow climber,
Iceburg rose, and knockout roses.
Last Summer was very bad for Blackspot and Japanese Beetles.
More photos, coming soon... =)
